Salutations!
Well hey! I'm Anji- that's pronounced "Angie" No it's not exotic- I'm about as All-American as apple pie- it was just my parent's being creative. I started this blog to share the moments that make up my crazy life
that most of my friends say “you have to write a book about that!” Now I know
what you are thinking- “this is just like Sex In the City”….stop it… right now….
I have never seen a moment of that show (Ok I watched like 5 minutes and
changed the channel) and no I’m not Carrie or Sue or whoever all the characters
are. I
can’t promise a happy ending because this journey is still going but I will promise that you will laugh out loud at some of my stories . So if you are
up for a sarcastic, smart-assed, hilarious tour through the days that make up my life…. throw on your sassy pants, buckle up, and let’s go.
Side note- If you try to correct my grammar I will kick your
ass- this is just for funzies
Ok soooo where to start--- let’s rewind to where I grew up.
Small town USA is Alliance OH. Located just east of the metropolis of Canton-
yes the home of the Football Hall of Fame- its' population is roughly 22k people, This means when you go to the grocery store-
there is at least 3 people who will know you or your mom or your dad’s cousin’s
kids. This is also the town where you marry your HS/College sweetheart, settle
down with a couple of kids and live within a 15 minute radius of your parents. We
have our own city celebration- Carnation Festival, since the state flower of
Ohio- the red carnation- was propagated there. Yes it is just like in the movies.
I love where I grew up; in the country with rolling corn
fields, unlined streets and hospitality that out does the south (GASP). There is a
good chance you will pass a tractor on the road, smell the cows before you see
them and see grown men mowing their massive yards in overalls who wave at every
car. There is something comforting about growing up out where there are no
sidewalks, no streetlamps and the crickets and bullfrogs are the only sounds
you hear as you sleep with the windows open because we don’t have air
conditioning. I grew up country- my dad put a shot gun in my hand and taught me
how to shoot about the same time he taught me how to catch a baseball. These
are my roots and I hold dear to them now. Homegrown, if you will. That shot gun
still sits beside my bed and you better believe there are boots in my closet. I think you get the picture.
When I went off to college- my world changed. Junior year I met
a guy and before I knew it I was following him down to North Carolina- 5 years
later we are walking down the aisle and just 3 years after that we are signing
divorce papers- but that is a story for another time.
Fast forward to today- I live by myself with my dog Ezzie
(picture to follow) and I work in sports and absolutely love my job. I am an
avid crossfitter, a foodie, world traveler and a self proclaimed NPR nerd. I am a bit
of a risk taker, a fierce defender of what I believe in and
apocalyptical shit stirrer. Most of my friends will tell you I’m someone they
go to for advice and who they know is loyal. I love to laugh and can appreciate
the little things. But to be 110% honest- at the moment my life is lonely. I
work like a crazy woman- hit up the gym and barely get home in enough time to
take a shower eat and get in 7.5 hours of sleep- so meeting someone has been a bit of
a challenge. I should be sleeping as I am typing this but instead I am entertaining you... see I'm totally unselfish!!!
So there are a lot of ups and downs between then and now and
we will get to all of that in time- but I won’t bore you with all of that at the moment. For now, I just wanted to lay the
basic outline of who I am and where I came from and why the hell this blog exists. I will try to stay on track and write a little tidbit each day..but please don't crucify me if I slack off. Thank you for taking a moment to read about me- I look forward to sharing a smidge of my life with you.
